OTED’s Eid al-Adha Qurbani Initiative 2026
Eid al-Adha is one of the most sacred occasions in the Islamic calendar, reminding Muslims around the world of the values of sacrifice, generosity, compassion, and solidarity with those in need. It is a time when families gather to celebrate, share meals, and strengthen community bonds. However, for many vulnerable families struggling with poverty and economic hardship, participating fully in the celebrations can be difficult.
To help ensure that disadvantaged families could share in the blessings of Eid, OTED successfully implemented its Eid al-Adha Qurbani Initiative 2026, continuing a tradition of humanitarian service that has now reached its 13th consecutive year. Through this year’s initiative, OTED sacrificed and distributed 105 sheep, providing support to approximately 2,200 poor families, widows, orphaned children, and vulnerable households across Afghanistan
The program brought joy, hope, and much-needed assistance to thousands of individuals while reaffirming OTED’s commitment to serving communities in need throughout Afghanistan.

Continuing a Tradition of Compassion for 13 Years
For the past thirteen years, OTED has remained dedicated to supporting poor families and orphaned children during Eid al-Adha. The annual Qurbani program has become an important part of the organization’s humanitarian efforts, ensuring that vulnerable households can participate in the spirit and blessings of this special occasion.
Over the years, the initiative has reached thousands of beneficiaries and has become a symbol of solidarity, compassion, and community support. Each year, OTED works to identify families facing the greatest hardships and provide assistance that makes a meaningful difference in their lives.
This long-standing commitment reflects OTED’s belief that every family deserves the opportunity to celebrate Eid with dignity, regardless of their economic circumstances.

First-Day Qurbani Activities in Wardak Province
On the first day of Eid al-Adha, OTED carried out the sacrifice of 70 sheep in Wardak Province. The event was carefully planned and implemented by OTED staff members and volunteers, who worked diligently to ensure that all activities were conducted smoothly and in accordance with Islamic principles.
Prior to the distribution process, beneficiary families were identified through community coordination to ensure that support reached those who needed it most. The meat was then prepared and distributed among poor families, widows, orphaned children, and vulnerable households.
For many beneficiaries, receiving Qurbani meat during Eid was not only a source of nourishment but also a reminder that they are not forgotten. The smiles of children and the gratitude expressed by families highlighted the positive impact of the initiative on the community.

Expanding the Initiative to Kabul
On the second day of Eid al-Adha, OTED expanded its Qurbani activities to Kabul, where the remaining sheep were sacrificed and distributed among vulnerable families.
The Kabul distribution focused on reaching households facing significant economic challenges, including widows, orphaned children, and families with limited access to resources. The meat was distributed in an organized and respectful manner, ensuring fairness and dignity throughout the process.
Through these efforts, OTED was able to extend the benefits of the Qurbani program to even more families, helping them celebrate Eid with happiness and a sense of inclusion.

Supporting 2,200 Families Across Afghanistan
One of the most significant achievements of this year’s initiative was its reach. Through the sacrifice and distribution of 105 sheep, OTED successfully supported approximately 2,200 families across Wardak and Kabul.
At a time when many communities continue to face economic hardship, food insecurity, and limited opportunities, this assistance provided meaningful relief. For many households, the distributed meat represented an opportunity to enjoy a nutritious meal during Eid and share in the celebrations with family members and neighbors.
The initiative not only addressed immediate needs but also strengthened the values of community support and social responsibility that are central to Eid al-Adha.

Ensuring Quality, Cleanliness, and Ethical Practices
OTED places great importance on maintaining high standards throughout every stage of the Qurbani process. All animals selected for sacrifice were healthy, carefully inspected, and suitable for Qurbani according to Islamic requirements.
The slaughtering process was conducted in a clean, organized, and humane manner, ensuring respect for both religious principles and public health standards. Hygiene and safety measures were observed throughout the operation, from the preparation stage to the final distribution of meat.
OTED staff closely supervised all activities to ensure transparency, accountability, and professionalism. The organization remains committed to implementing humanitarian programs that uphold the highest standards of quality and integrity.
The Dedication of OTED Staff and Volunteers
The success of the Eid al-Adha Qurbani Initiative 2026 would not have been possible without the dedication and hard work of OTED’s staff and volunteers.
From planning and coordination to implementation and distribution, team members worked tirelessly to ensure that the program was carried out effectively. Their commitment to serving vulnerable communities played a vital role in reaching thousands of beneficiaries and making the initiative a success.
The professionalism and teamwork demonstrated throughout the program reflect OTED’s ongoing commitment to humanitarian service and community development.

Looking Ahead
As OTED reflects on the success of its 13th Annual Eid al-Adha Qurbani Initiative, the organization remains committed to continuing this tradition of compassion and support for vulnerable communities.
The gratitude and happiness expressed by beneficiary families serve as a powerful reminder of the importance of humanitarian assistance and community solidarity. OTED will continue working to expand its impact and reach more families in need through future programs and initiatives.
With the support of partners, donors, volunteers, and community members, OTED looks forward to continuing its mission of serving poor families, widows, and orphaned children across Afghanistan in the years ahead, Insha’Allah.
